On Friday, May 16th, the four-star design hotel Mercure Riga Center, belonging to one of the world leaders in the field of hotel business – Mercure, has been solemnly opened in Riga.
On May 1, 2014, the four-star Mercure Riga Center hotel joined the Mercure brand, becoming the first hotel of this brand in Latvia. The hotel operates on the basis of a franchise agreement signed with the main rights holder of Accor brands in the Baltic States – the Orbis Hotel Group, which is based in Warsaw (Poland).
“The leading European operator of hotels – Accor – has signed a partnership agreement with Orbis to confidently develop in Poland and the Baltic States. Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia hold a great potential, and we are determined to strengthen our position in this market. The Latvian Mercure Riga Centre hotel is magnificent!” said the CEO of Orbis, Laurent Picheral.
The Mercure Riga Center hotel occupies a magnificent building, constructed in 1901 in the Art Nouveau style. It is located in the center of Riga, 400 meters from the Old Town and near the main railway station of the city.
“The concept of Mercure hotels – “People and places” – is all about preserving the authenticity of the place where the hotel is located,” said Alexey Abasov (OleksiiAbasov). “Riga is famous for its unique architecture, Art Nouveau is one of the main attractions of the capital of Latvia. This theme was the basis of the concept of the Mercure Riga Center hotel. A remarkable team of architects and designers have managed to perpetuate Art Nouveau in even seemingly insignificant details – from the design elements in the rooms to the naming of the conference rooms.”
